Walter Johnson, Jr. (b. ca. 1966 in Columbia, Missouri) is a leading American historian, specializing in the history of slavery, capitalism, and imperialism. ==Life== Walter Johnson, Jr. was born in Missouri, the eldest son of Walter Johnson, Sr., distinguished professor of economics at the University of Missouri,〔http://www.tigerboard.com/boards/missouri-tigers.php?message=9646263〕 and Mary-Angela Johnson,〔http://www.columbiatribune.com/obituaries/mary-angela-johnson/article_efb98b96-c656-11e3-88c6-10604b9f6eda.html〕 director of the Children's House Montessori School. He is married to Alison Frank Johnson, and has three children and two stepchildren.
